The Great Alaskan Adventure - Day 8

July 17, 2013 - Anchorage

Today we ventured over to the Alaska Native Heritage Center.  The center is a cultural center and museum with 11 different villages depicting different cultural groups.

When we got to the museum they were doing a demonstration of native games - of course Andy volunteered to participate!

The also demonstrated a game called the swing kick.  They use just their arms, push off the ground, swing their legs up to hit a ball above their heads.

Once we finished the museum we went outside to the village displays, it is a nice walk around a lovely lake.

 The grounds we gorgeous.

They also had a sled dog display - with puppies!  John and Andy went on a "sled" ride.  Andy thought it was awesome!

After the Cultural Center we headed over to Moose Tooth Pub and Pizzeria for lunch.

Frank and Angel warned us that there would be a wait - they were right, but it was worth it!  We had a delicious roasted Garlic Appetizer with delicious beer!

For pizza - Andy went with his standby, cheese :)  John and I choose a 1/2 and 1/2 of Shrimp Po Boy and the Brew house Favorite with Chorizo, Sun dried tomatoes and Denali Sauce, which is a blend of spinach and ricotta. It was delicious!

After lunch we picked up Jack and headed to downtown Anchorage to check out the mall and stroll around downtown.

Downtown Anchorage has gorgeous flower displays every where - makes you forget 6 months out of the year it is covered in snow!
