Surprise Andy! We are going to Walt Disney World!!!

September 12, 2012

Back in March of this year Mom called and asked if I would be interested in taking a Caribbean Cruise in September...after about a millisecond of thought I said sure!  When I asked John about it and told him the ship leaves from Port Canaveral - his eyes got as big as saucers and said, "Can we go to Disney World too!?" Mmmm....why not! Our original plan was to surprise both the boys, but quickly discovered it is hard to pull the wool over Jack's eyes.  Andy on the other hand....we woke him up early Wednesday morning and said, "Let's Go!" Half a asleep he asked if we were going to hockey??? Cause where else to you go that early in the morning? :)   We thru him in the car and headed to National Airport.  Upon arrival at the airport the curbside check-in asked if we were heading to Orlando.  We said yes, and Andy looked slightly disappointed, he didn't know where or what Orlando was.   Jack finally told him Orlando is in Florida and Andy said, "Disney World!" We said nope, Dad has to go for work and we thought we would tag along :)

Yea! Vacation!

Plane finally arrived!

Upon arrival at Orlando airport Andy asked how we were getting to our hotel.  I told him bus, taxi, fairy - wait and see.  We got off the shuttle to the main terminal and he was so distracted by all the shops he did not see Nana and Papa waiting for him.   I finally said, "I see a fairy that can get us to our hotel." He turned and looked and there was Nana and Papa!

We headed to the hotel and as soon as we headed under the gates welcoming you to Walt Disney World - the jig was up and the smile was HUGE!  We got to Wilderness Lodge and checked in.  Our rooms weren't ready yet, so we decided to lunch at the Whispering Cannon located in the lobby of the hotel - fun place to eat!  Sometimes you can even do the Hokie Pokie during lunch!

After lunch we headed over to the Magic Kingdom.   The weather was a bit humid, but there was a slight breeze and cloud cover that made it bearable.

Andy was super excited to got to Tom Sawyers Island!

Andy's Foray into Politics!

September 9, 2012

Here we go!  Andy came home school last week and announced he was running for Team Leader in the SCO (Student Council Organization).  At his school you can't run for office until third grade and Team Leader is the designated office for third graders.   He had to write and present a 30 second speech - he came up with a really good one! Unfortunately on the day they were to video tape the speeches to show to the whole school  - he left his at home.  He got off the bus that day and I asked if he was able to get his time to video tape moved to another day and he said, No, and don't worry Mom, I just winged it and I nailed it!"

Next step in the process is posters - Andy, already a practiced politician got Mom and Dad to help!

Here are his two finished posters:

Build a great future with handy Andy!

Score a goal with Andy!

Election day is Friday, September 14th and Andy has no idea, but he will be spending that day at Walt Disney World!  I hope they let us know if he wins!  Good luck Monkey!!!
